Greetings Members and Guests,
We desperately need volunteers on weekends. If you would like to volunteer as a lap swimming monitor, please email volunteer@eastparkpool.org. All you need is current First Aid/CPR training. The in-person part only takes a couple hours. We’re arranging a group training so let us know your availability for the next couple weeks.
We’re having a board meeting next Wednesday at 7:00 pm at Mesa Public Library. We’ll discuss 2027 membership rates, new board and committee members, and possible change to 501c3 status. Please come if you’re interested in being more involved. If you can’t make it in person, join on Google Meet. (I’ll make sure to join this time!)
Check out our new warming hut! It’s like 80 degrees in there!

Heating an uncovered pool in near-freezing temperatures seems like a colossal waste of energy and money.
Somebody commented about our extended seasons operations so here’s what our pool looks like when it’s not in use. We do our best to conserve, but it’s really hard to invest in efficiency when you’re barely surviving. You know what’s a colossal waste of energy and money? Sending swimmers to Espanola. When you factor in fuel, vehicle wear, lost time, crashes, and carbon, the cost of commuting is about $50 per trip. We saw 127 swimmers last week, saving individuals and the community thousands of dollars.

You may have noticed the pool temperature was down a bit this week. That’s because our filter was clogged with leaves. The temperature should be back up to normal now, but skimming leaves really helps keep the pool operating at its best. So if you have a minute, grab a skimmer and help keep leaves out of the pool.
