Pool 80⁰F

Greetings swimmers,

Haven’t given an update since the pool was 74⁰F so just wanted to say we took care of that. Water is warm and clear. We’re losing the fight on debris because we just don’t have the volunteers to keep up with brushing. We’re working on getting the vacuum system working.

We’re open for lap swimming 9a-11a today and 10:30-12:30p tomorrow. 6-8a and 4:30-6p next week. The afternoon hours are a bit iffy, but we’re only open because of volunteers and we have a very thin bench. We’ll expand hours if we get some more volunteers on watch duty. Check the door sign for the latest hours. I’ll answer the phone if I’m there, but I also answer email usually within a couple hours when I’m not there. Sorry, this is the best we can do without more help.

We received a response from the County. It was a bulleted list of all the ways nothing is their fault. There was nothing about sending their guards to help us expand hours and be open for recreational swimming for the public. Instead, they’re sending their trained pool staff to do custodial work at the golf course and Española. Be sure to let your County Council know how you feel about that.

They have also announced the aquatic center won’t be open until January due to a pump replacement that wasn’t part of the scheduled resurfacing work. They slipped it in during a July 25 Council meeting. They knew in July that there would be long lead times and told Council they were confident it wouldn’t delay the project. Let your councilors know how you feel about that, too.

We will keep fighting the good fight, but we need swimmers so we can pay for the heating and chemicals. So please come swim. $10/adults, $5/youth, lap swim only.
